Heating and cooling.

District heating is an affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly way to heat housing and facilities. It is a system with heated water as media. It heats up your element and your water in a convenient and energy-smart way.

Mälarenergi suppiles district heating in Västerås, Hallstahammar and Kungsör. District heating is the leading form of heating in Sweden. When the hot water in the district heating power plant leaves, it is approximately 70-110 º C. A central placed heat exchanger in your house transfers the heat to your heating system for heating elements and tap water.

District heating system is a loop

District heating system is based on a closed system, like a cycle. Instead of each house having its own heat source, heat is supplied from a central production unit. When your element and your tap water is heated the water is the returned to the power plant to be warmed up again.

When you switch to central heating, a heat exchanger will be installed in your house. It is not bigger than a bathroom cabinet and can be placed on the wall in a small space. It´s quiet and requires almost no maintenance since the technology is simple and reliability is high.
