Waste as a resource

Welcome to drop off your waste at Mälarenergi in Västerås. We recycle waste from municipalities, recycling companies, municipal associations, waste contractors and hauliers. The absolute best thing is if we can reduce the amount of waste in society, and instead recycle and reuse as much as possible. But for waste that cannot be recycled for various reasons, energy recovery is the best way for example with our incineration service.

By recycling waste for energy, you contribute to a circular society! It reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfill, while also benefiting society's need for heating and electricity.

Combined heat and power plays an important role in solving the power shortage in Sweden. Thanks to district heating, we can use electricity for better things than heating.

Together with EFO we work to reduce risk management and work on FOB basis and therefore offer to cover the risk and uncertainties on the shipping market. We have also built up a network of train, truck and container solutions in order to offer a complete logistics solution particularly from inland locations.

Accepted and Refused Types of Waste

We need to know everything about the certain waste type; where it came from originally and how it has been produced and handled – as well as we also need to be able to show full transparency to our partners. Therefore bale presentation and quality are two crucial factors for shipping. We accept:

SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel)
RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel)
RWW (Recycled Waste Wood)

Mälarenergi tries to minimize the use of fossil fuels at all levels. We do not accept these wastes:

Uncontrolled/unsorted compostable waste
Radioactive material
